So if you have read my other posts you should know I have a 20 gallon high aquarium with a aquaclear 30... I have water that should be just fine but I wanted to know if a 20 high would allow for me to have a small shoal of peacocks... Or if I even need a shoal and could just do a pair... Would they still be ok?

I have 4 peacocks in an 80l high tank, plus 2 honey gourami. They don't really shoal as such but seem happy to interact in passing! It would depend what else you are having in your tank with the peacocks.

I was just going to have some cories and a couple nerite snails... Thank you for your experience with them. How long have you had them?

I had peacock gudgeons a few years ago. They are quite peaceful fish, except if there are 2 males in a smallish space like a 20 high. I would get 1 male and 2 or 3 females. Learn how to tell the difference before going shopping. Mature males have a hump on their heads but the fish in shops are immature so their heads all look female. The thing to look at is the anal fin. Females have a dark edge to the fin, it doesn't have to be the whole length even a small bit shows it's a female. Males do bot have any dark colour on the edge of the fin.

So would this be a female then?

These were my fish, please excuse the glass

Male - he was mature by this point to he had the lumpy head. The anal fins has red on the edge but not very dark red.

This is a female, she had a 'normal' shaped head but she also had a tiny bit of black on the anal fin.

And a rather blurry photo of three females

Absolutely beautiful fish... I love how both the males and females have lots of coloring.

Oh wow. I was going to do gouramis but then I saw peacock gobies and I loved them. So ive been burning google with questions lol.
They are lovely fish - very inquisitive. I prefer them to my gouramis.
