Betta transformation (Not Mine)

That can’t be the same Betta... they can’t just change completely from regular to koi, because the regular color is already in their genes.

I believe the blue to white. I saw a similar color change in my Betta, but the blue to koi is throwing me.
I think the change to koi is real, if you look at the middle pictures when it turns white you can see speckles forming on both. When it first turns white you cant really make it out but theres one on the head. Then in the next pictures they start turning bigger.I believe the blue to white. Could be, but it may also be staged. (Most likely the latter)
i mostly see 2-3 as a different fish
every time i see a betta, i want one even more.
why do i want a betta so much??
that looks like 3 DIFFERENT bettas Photoshoped to look like one another. take a look at those backrounds the 2nd two are the same fish. the 4th pic has a blue tone to the water. look at the ventral fins one has a skinnier and more slender shape while the others are clearly wider. the last 2 are most likely the same fish.

I do know some bettas carry a “grizzled” gene or something, and their colors change as they age, giving them the koi patterning I think, but I am not entirely sure about all of it, and the ”color change” is only to a certain, minimal extent
They could, but coloration is really hardwired into the Bettas genes, coming fully from their parents. A Betta can't just change colors like that.
You guys saw my Betta's color transformation: It wasn't extreme, but he still did change colors a little, over a long period of time.
I think PART of the genetics that the betta gets makes it change, slightly, over time. Nothing extreme like the photos, but the colors can definitely change
