What kind of fish is this?

Hello!
I recently bought a fish in a spur of the moment decision. I usually don't buy this way, I do my research first and make sure I have the right tank conditions. But I couldn't leave this little guy behind. The guy who sold him to me told me the Latin name and couldn't give another.. I couldn't spell the name even if I remembered it. Can someone help me identify him? He is a male, and I was told female counterparts are usually brown. He also told me the little guy is super hardy and he was keeping him in tap water. I usually keep bettas and the guy said they are very similar in care. You also cannot keep more than 1 male in the same tank. This is all I know ? thank you in advance.

No idea, but he is absolutely gorgeous! My only guess would be a Scarlet Badis, but I cannot confirm that!

Looks like a Red tail Notho Killifish to me. Here’s a comparison pic. Might not be this exact species but I definitely think it’s some type of killifish.

Nothobranchius killifish. Get a female and breed them.

Thanks! Now that I researched the names provided, I see it's also called a Guentheri killifish, or red-tail notho. This is what he called it. We have solved the mystery!
