Hello,

I have been keeping track these past few days of a strange lump that's been appearing on one of my cardinals. I do believe that whatever it is, it's growing, and I can't find anything about it anywhere. So here's some pictures. I think it's important to mention that the object appears to have penetrated the scales from either inside or outside and is half in and half out. Looks almost like it got stabbed and the knife stayed lodged in. Would love to get some answers on this.

got any pictures that are in focus?
I went back to get some more and it's gone. All cardinals still here. No signs of grevious wounds I can see. My title might be more accurate than I thought... Is it possible for the cardinal to have gotten a small piece of gravel stuck in it? The color, shape and size would be about right. And I have seen them flashing lately.
