Low Tech Planted Tank

Started my low Tech cheap-as-I-could
75 gallon today.

Used:
Aqueon 75 Gallon Tank
Seachem Tidal 110
AQQA 300w Submersible Heater
Kellogg Organic Garden Soil
BDBS Cap
Fritz Complete
Seachem Plant Pack Fundamentals

Planted:
Ludwigia Palustris
Echinodorus Bleheris
Sagittaria Subulata

It looks like crap currently (pics without light and with light). I hate starting new tanks

I like the tank in the arch space. That's going to look awesome when it gets going!

Hello y'all. Longish post incoming. I've been super busy all week and haven't had a chance to get online. After a couple days, my water turned greenish brown and I had been fighting it with little success all week. Until today I did another water change and finally am seeing some results. I bought a light timer and that has taken some stress off. Now I don't have to listen to alarms on my phone all day long to change the light intensity.

Pics attached will show the progress and the cause of my annoyment all week haha

Thank you! It was the only space in the house it would fit and I got lucky that it worked out ?

Looks like it's starting to clear up. Nice!

I worry that the location is not sustainable....access mainly but also cooking fumes and direct window light.

I kept another tank in the same location for over and year and the sunlight itself wasn't direct enough to cause any problems. I will keep an eye on it though. The cooking fumes itself I'm not too worried about. I keep a very snug fitting cover over the top to help with evaporation. The same with the heat. With the tank being so large, I feel as though it will maintain itself. I could be completely wrong though and it could be a disaster haha

Did you dirt the tank?

I did. Capped it with blasting sand as well

I would drain it 50%+ to get rid of some of that cloudiness.

I figured. I've done a couple water changes so far and it helped. I thought for awhile I had a phytoplankton bloom. Either way, a 50% change is on the list

I am going to have predominantly Rainbowfish. Boeseman's, Turqoise, and maybe another variation of Rainbow, along with happy tank mates
