My columbian red fin has this black marking near the tail from past 2-3 weeks now, water parameters are all normal and I also treated the water with internal anti bacterial medicene (did 2 doses) fish is over all healthy and eating. I have also noticed this black spot on my rosy barb and again the fish Is healthy active and feeding.

Any help appreciated please.

Thank you

How old is your fish? How long have you had it?

Not exactly sure how old they are the columbian tetra was really small in size when I got him which was about 5 months ago and he has grown in size since then. The rosy barb I've had for just under a year now.

Can you think what chemicals you have used in the tank during and before the black marks appeared? Does the heater in the tank have an heat guard to stop any possible burning of the fishes skin?

I managed to source this photograph of the fish you have: https://www.istockphoto.com/photo/r...-tropical-aquarium-fish-gm648931160-117817607 . I think your fish may just be going through a natural pigmentation change.

probably natural colouration, certainly the rosy barbs Is natural and normal colouration

Thank you for putting my mind at rest. What about my other fish the Colombian?

I agree with Colin- my Platy developed a black spot on his tail as well as he grew and got bigger. I doubt there is anything wrong with them, especially if their behavior has stayed the same.
