Unwanted Fish

Good News!

I already have interest from somebody. Here is the message they sent:

I have asked them for pictures of these tanks to ensure they are well maintained and well stocked. I'll keep you guys updated with their response.

I don't see any glaring problems. None of the tanks look over stocked.

If the road trip isn't very far, just a lidded ice chest with some tank water will be fine, doesn't have to be full

The trip may be anywhere from 10 - 30 minutes, I'm not quite sure yet because he hasn't responded.

I don't have an ice chest, would a container similar to this one do?

I'm keeping my platy in this one but could pick one up the same size or similar from the store.

Yep, that'll work just fine, filled only about halfway, so water doesn't slosh out during the trip...wrap it in a blanket or put into a garbage bag, if it will fit, it'll reduce stress on the fish if he/she can't see what's going on...

Sounds good. Do I need to include an airstone or any other type of equipment?

Nah, it'll be fine...I've carried bagged fish home from Houston (2 hours away) with no problems.

More than welcome ;)
I hate to mention it, but there are people out there who would just release fish like this into the wild, if they found no takers, which is one of the most irresponsible things a fishkeeper could do...

I've heard of such people, they clearly are not concerned about the ecological impact of dumping fish, nor do they think about the low chances of survival the fish might have. One last question, the tank is currently undergoing treatment with General Cure, so would it okay to take the algae eater out of the tank having only been partly treated?

Yes, just let the new owner know about it, and why you were treating in the first place.
