Guppies at top

My guppies have suddenly all congregated in a top corner of my tank (see photos).
Last night they were swimming around and exploring - or as much as they could without getting chased by the tiger barbs which have now gone.
I added 6 more guppies this morning to the 4 original inhabitants.
Water parameters have not changed.
Do they all just need to settle in? My 4 tetra and 2 new gouramis are swimming around quite happily in the lower levels.

What’s the tank temperature? Iv heard they do this when too cold

Ooh - interesting... and that corner is where the heater is. I have the thermometer (it's the correct size for the tank) set at 26C. I'll increase it a bit - watch this space and thanks for the advice!

26 sound fine tho , I wouldn’t increase if I was you I’d leave them a few days see if they Change

Mine stay at the top a lot to. When I feed them food...

In all seriousness mine do that as well in one of my other tanks but in a other tank they don't do that.

I have 2 adult guppys left (They didnt die,I gave some away as i have 60 fry)
They did often do this corner thing in the first few weeks of having them they dont do it as much these days, Mine are normally cruising the top for food or new fry to eat. So i would say give them a bit of time to adjust. If you have just shipped out some fish again they will need adjustment time. I originally had 4 females & 2 Males & the 2 i kept hold of were very shy & wouldnt come out of the corner for a 2 weeks, Now they think they rule until the Army of Corys come out. Hope this helps ?

Do you have a thermometer in the tank or are you relying on the setting on the heater? Heaters rarely heat the water to the set temperature as they are not accurately calibrated - you need a thermometer to check the temp if you haven't already got one.

Interesting - and it might be a coincidence but I went up to 28C (according to the heater) this morning after reading the first post, and the guppies are down and ruling the roost!

Thanks for the advice - it might be a coincidence but I turned up the heat and they are down and playing!
