New lights - Desperate at this point...

So I’m re-thinking my discussion to get both... I am buying the satellite used, and there’s really no way of testing it on the tank, because we would be meeting up in the city somewhere.

So... maybe I should just keep the Nicrew, because it comes with a warranty and I can return it? Thoughts?

So what do you guys think of that? ^

Hmmm. I am pretty sure the Satellite will 100% be better than the Nicrew. Whether you really NEED the increase in performance is another question that only you can answer.

Id stick with the Nicrew if it was me. Ive not heard of the Satellite brand before so i cant comment on that light but there is always a risk buying used lights. With the Nicrew you have the peace of mind with the warranty and you wont be disappointed with the lights performance.

This tank as a Nicrew led on and the plants are thriving :)

That’s it, I’m keeping the Nicrew, it’s soooooo good compared to my other one!!!

I can actually see all of my shrimp and fish!

Obviosuly the water is cloudy, because I was cleaning water hardness stains off of the glass, but I just put in the new filter (Aqueon QuietFlow) and I’m also super impressed with that. Really quiet and you an barely even see it. I think I was only $14, but so good so far. And it doesn’t have any slash. This was a big issue for me with the old light, because all I had was an air pump and an air stone. It splashed like crazy and now that whole end of the trash light is chalk white. I’ve been staring at this thing for 5 minutes now and haven’t seen a single speck of water fly up.

I have left the protective plastic sheet on the light “lens” for now, just to make sure there’s no water kicking up. It will be even brighter once I remove that.

I’m the happiest I have been in a LONG time. :) :)

(Just an idea to show you how trashy the only one was)

I just got a nicrew as well so we will both see how it goes. ;)

I got the skyLED and I assume you got the ClassicLED. So far I am VERY impressed with it as it seems you are as well. MUCH MUCH MUCH better and brighter and whiter then my old crappy flourescent and my plants were pearling quite a lot yesterday.

How is yours going so far?

Ok guys! I’m impressed with Nicrew so much, I’m getting one for my 29g tank.

Can’t decide if I want the Classic or the Gen2. Gen2 claims to be 50% brighter, and it has a white/blue/brightness control. Since the 29g is taller than the 20g long, I figured it would be perfect.

Thoughts please?

I don't see a reason to not get the Gen. 2. The only issue would be price I think, but if that's not a worry then better is better no matter what. :)

Well, there’s the Classic, the Classic Plus, and then the Classic Gen2. Gen2 being the best out of the three.

The Gen2 is just slightly more expensive than the Classic, but well worth it IMO.

I got the Gen2 for my 20 gallon tall. I really like it. :)

Do you have a Classic in another tank? The only reason why I’m asking, is because I want to make sure the Gen2 is actually worth the extra money.

No, I don't have a classic. But, before I got the Gen2 I did some research to see if it was worth it, and everything I saw said that, if you want to grow plants, the Gen2 is a lot better.
