So I'm a first time live plant owner and I have some red root floaters that have been in quarantine for 2 weeks as of today. Fun surprise in the tank this morning... a ton of baby snails. (Thank goodness I quarantined) I suppose I should squish them which I hate the idea of but I also hate the idea of getting them in my tank. Does anyone know if petco will take baby snails?
My question is how much longer should I quarantine the plants to have the least chance of getting snails in my main tank? I'm hoping they've all hatched and I can remove them and have it be the end, but I want to be cautious.
Also just curious if anyone knows what kind of snails they are? All I know is that the tank the plants were originally in had MTS but I hear that they produce live young and I'm thinking these babies came from eggs since I'm only seeing them two weeks in.
(Just saying ik the quarantine tank looks nasty, I had stringy stuff forming in it so the healthy plants are actually moved into a separate tank to finish their quarantine, but this one is the one that most of the snails are in. I'm thinking the stringy stuff on the glass is just the stuff that was on the surface but if anyone is concerned about it please lmk)
