Hello all. I have a 20 gallon glofish tank with 5 tetras a 4 cory catfish. So a couple weeks ago I noticed one of my tetras are fatter than the other and his scales seem more prominent than the others. I am aware of the disease dropsy but he doesn’t seem to be fully pineconing and he still has an active appetite but this morning I just noticed these horrible looking bubbles on him and they seem to be destroying his scales does anybody know what this could be?! Please help thank you.

Do you have a quarantine tank? If so you need to move your infected fish over to your quarantine tank and if not then you have no choice but to either remove the infected fish or try and treat it in your community tank. Having said that, I am sorry but, I don't know what is wrong with your fish. So let me give you a website that list fish diseases and treatments. Chart on Fish Diseases, Symptoms and Treatments

Hopefully others will drop in that can help you identify what is wrong with your fish. I am sorry this is happening to you.

I unfortunately don’t have a quarantine tank, but I did start the tetra lifeguard in the tank to hopefully help him out if it’s some sort of bacterial infection. Any idea if that is a good first step?

Ive gone fishing plenty of times and have descaled many a fish...

That looks like skin that has totally been stripped of the scales. Has this fish been scratching itself off objects? Any bad fighting between the tetras?

No fighting and I haven’t seen him scratching like it said it looks like his scales are bursting off or something never seen anything like it
