I crack up on our parrot. Hes the only one that gets dirty after being in a cave. We say he dumpster dives. Haha.

Edges look like they could be sharp. That could remove his slime coat and perhaps cause other issues

Yea its so funny. His fins and face get all black.
That....doesn't.....look..... like something I'd want my fish to be doing. Especially in a cichlid tank, where it's defenseless, and could potentially get stuck for a extended period of time. Just imo

What size is the tank and what other fish do you have? If the Blood Parrot is turning black and is hiding in the cave like that he may be stressed. I am no expert though so I may be wrong.
I hate to be 'that guy' but those Geophagus do not belong in that tank. It looks like it is set up for Africans and I can see some in the picture - Geos need soft/neutral water and no where near tough enough to go with Africans.

You have a nice looking tank and fish. I agree with @Wills I use to have a 55 gallon African Cichlids tank and they tend to be aggressive and are hard water fish. I keep both soft water and hard water fish in separate tanks and use RO water to soften my hard water. I would suggest you consider having a 2nd tank so you can separate the hard water fish from the soft water fish. They will be more healthier in the long run. My cichlids love pushing things around the tank like plastic plants. I ended up with over 50 fry that made it to adulthood.
