WWW your fish are beautiful. I love the gold nugget. I have never seen a plec like that. I wonder if my lfs could get one for me? Its absolutely beautiful.

www-very very beautiful fish,i'v always wanted a gold nugget.what can you tell me about them?can they tolerate hard water?(8.2 ph)how big do they grow?
i see them at the lfs all the time,but the price usually turns me off.

Tell me about them too. Had one when first started keeping tropicals, but it died, I thought it might be due to the hard water round here?

Give me info. keeper of gorgeous looking fish.

right for those of you that are interested;

gold nugget - baryancistrus sp.

3 types? - L081 - small spots, L085/L018 - medium spots, L177 - large spot

Origin: Rio Xingu, Amazon, Brazil

Maximum Size: Up to 8 inches. Slow growing

Care: Excellent water conditions (pH 6.5-7.4), the temperature should be 24-28oC

Feeding: Members of the family are mostly vegetarian but may accept other foods as well.

Breeding: No detailed accounts and doubted to have occurred in captivity.

Sexing: difficult even with mature specimens

Comments: Generally nocturnal/diurnal but venture out more once fully settled. Need bogwood to graze on and a cave to call home
