I think I messed something up

So I just 100% redid my tank from gravel to the fine fine sand like gravel and after the sand set I turned the filter on and my filter just died I bought it a few months ago.. what happened??

Hmm. The impeller could have become clogged. Do you know how to find that?
 
If you still have the instruction manual the filter came with, you should be able to find it pretty easily.
 
I think something made it over heat it is like crazy hot on the bottom
 
Most filters are fairly easy to disassemble to take each part off to clean or to replace.

The impeller is normally set into a small chamber inside the filter housing and is magnetised into position, pull the impeller out after gaining access through the housing, clean the impeller and clean inside chamber of impeller housing as well, this usually does the trick in making the impeller spin once again and getting full flow.
 
It's running again!!! Thanks I don't know if its because of the hard water or what but it seems a little cloudy

You might look into getting a sponge to put on the intake. That will keep sand from ruining your filter over time. What kind of filter is it?

Did you wash the sand first? It'll be a bit of dust but should settle.
Yes it looks less cloudy in the picture than in person i let the sand settle for over 12 hrs
