Hi guys, I'm after some advice please. I've had my tank for about 3-4 months now, it's a 60litre square. I was having issues with the water turning really green within a week, so, therefore, decided to move my tank (Originally it was near some balcony doors, so was getting a whole bunch of sunlight) I also re-homed a lot of the fish due to concerns it may have been overcrowded. I now have it in a spot that receives hardly any sunlight, I only have two small fish currently, a few snails and a few shrimp, so was hopeful that the water would no longer turn green, yet it's now been around four days since the changes and it seems it may be starting to go green already!!

I have a decent filter for the size, a whole bunch of real plants, no direct sunlight and only two fish, so I'm struggling to see why it would go green again, I've not been overfeeding either. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated, I've also attached a couple of images if they help.

Thanks in advance!

Have you done water changes? How long do you have the lights on for?

My aim was to do one per week, yeah, but it's only been four days since I pretty much changed all of the water. In terms of the lights, I've rarely had them on at all to be honest, for that exact reason. Really frustrating and I'm now even considering having to sell it all, just because I can't keep the water clear!

Are you adding any fertilizers for the plants? Overdosing could create excess nutrients and algae can take over.

You may also have some "left over" algae growth from the blood it originally received when it was near the window.

Also, try to take a lot of water out when you water change. It'll get better eventually.
