As everyone is aware, our resident medical guru is absent (Colin_T of course), with his current absence others have stepped in going above and beyond what anyone could've asked of them to try and fill his shoes. I too have tried to help, but I am far too green to offer proper aid when it comes to the health of fish. In fact earlier on today I jumped into a thread to try and help but was swiftly reminded of how little I actually know when it comes to these matters.

I lost my job recently, I have an abundance of time on my hands and the most of it is being spent eating noodles whilst watching crap on T.V. I want to help here, and I also want to gain more knowledge so that I can teach others too. I have the time, I have the willpower so I really see no reason why I shouldn't better myself in this time.

I've been looking around all day, trying to find a wellspring of information in regards to fish diesease, problems and remedies. Although I've found a few sites that stick out, alot of them hold very little in terms of information or variation in illnesses. I am just wondering if there's a magical site, or maybe a few well known respected sites where I can study and learn more about diseases and ailments, along with remedies and preventions.

If you have any links for beneficial sites, I would like for you to suggest them here, this way all the information will be readily accessible for all to look upon, and others like myself who wish to learn more can do so.

(just a little side note, mainly for mods and admins. My apologies if this is inappropriate directly asking for links)

That’s very admirable of you to step up for the cause. There are many books on the subject, one was suggested by @Barry Tetra . I personally dont have a site to recommend but you can search the internet for such sites. We dont allow links to fish forums similar to ours to be posted here. But if you put what you read elsewhere on the internet into your own words that is ok.

Thanks for putting your time into helping out on our site.

Perhaps @Colin_T will return.. he is very knowledgeable as he worked in fish stores and wholesalers most of his life, I believe.

Metronidazole and Praziquentel doses in API General cure for treating parasite and hole in the head diseases.
(for one that cannot find api general cure anywhere)

Top bloke :good:
Someone somewhere mentioned wetwebmedia as a good resource.
I'm sure we can all chip in here and bounce ideas off one another or mention if we think someone's advice is miles off.
I'll get reading! :book:

Okay I will post all the link in a min.

Thank you for the help, it's greatly appreciated :)

Thats the plan, hopefully we can compile everything together when all is said and done, maybe see if the mods would be okay pinning it. I think it would be very handy if it takes off. You even suggested pointing out wrong information, that would be very handy too, I'm sure theres a lot of bad remedies out there which people need to be made aware of!

When Colin returns I'm sure he'll be glad to have part of the load taken off of him also!

Thank you for the help :D

There many more websites focusing on specific diseases or specific fish diseases and other research papers done by the university students...

Some of them look familiar from my travels today! thank you for your contribution. Even more info to go through, thank you greatly!

If I seem like I'm not contributing much is because I'm doing work behind the scenes. I'm trying to consolidate all your loans into one to compile all information into one single word document. I've got a draught of bacterial illnesses/diseases so far, but I'm further expanding every one. When all is said and done I'll post what I've done on here for your viewing pleasure.

I have bookmarked this post of Colin's

Causes of string white poop post #15 (ignore the title of the thread)
