Plecos holding fins

Those pics should confirm it for anyone that may not have been convinced. It's unfortunate when these thing happen

Thanks for spotting it & letting me know. I would really not like to keep them in a tiny tank & cause them damage or death. I really appreciate you telling me.

EDIT typo

I hate the owner of your LFS even more now. I'm sorry I didn't spot this, I'm not knowledgeable about plecos beyond some basic care, I just took your word they were bristlenose and didn't consider how much rubbish he'd already told you. He's caused you a lot of fish deaths, stress and worry that could have been avoided, and now this. I know how attached to them you are, I'm so sorry.

I did think briefly that you could sell them back to him, but for the price this species is worth, but you're right, who knows who he'd dump them on and what he'd say. You love them and want them to have what they need, and that's great. It's awful that you're going through this though, after you'd already come though so much.

I hope you leave a scathing review everywhere possible for his store though. I just wish there was more that could be done to hold him accountable. He made all of this so hard on you, and it's lucky for the fish that you're a star and were willing to work so hard to save them, and now to find a good home for the plecos. Many others would have been overwhelmed, not known what was wrong with the tank and kept everything and not known why it all died off. Or why their plecos were now as big as the tank itself...

urgh, we need to get his store boycotted. Someone who should not be in the business of selling live animals for sure.

Yeah his advice has been a mess but sure if the Aquarium take them then they'll be really happy & well cared for. We can make a day of it & my toddler would love to see the sharks & all the big fish.

They're my favourite so it's a real gut punch. My fry are doing great. So there's that :/ :fun: and the tank is cycled! The two week ICH treatment is up on Sunday but I'll start calling the Aquarium (there's 3 in the country) and hopefully find them a home soon.

You're handling this much better than I would! I'm so angry on your behalf, and sad for you, I know you got so attached to them.

You might not need a new tank then, depending on the rest of your stocking. Although the custom tank sounds awesome. Sorry, I can't remember what else you have except livebearers and the fry.

Oh I'm so upset. Like badly. But I'm gonna get the tank @seangee has it's 36 in x 12 x 12 and 22 US gallon. I've a Molly that I don't think is ok in the 16 US Gal tank. 9 Platy Fry, 2 adult Platy & 4 neon tetra.

Maybe I could put them all in the new tank and find something fun for the 16 Gal.

That sounds great :) Molly, a bristlenose pleco and platies/tetra in the 22 gallon, then a cute set up in the 16 gal. You're gonna have a case of multiple tank syndrome soon!

So this happy cute thread turned depressing  my husband said we could make it a thing to do yearly trips to visit the Gold Spot Common Plecos if the Aquarium takes them.

And my tank is looking lovely with some Amazon Sword, spikey moss, mopani root & driftwood added today. I took out my fake log/cave and put it in the garden & told my son it's a snail house :) I've another piece of driftwood but it's floating in a bucket.

tank looks great!

Why not consider a smaller pleco species, you enjoyed my albino bristlenose, he stays small though has a bit of a bioload.

You could consider a clown pleco, though theyre shy and nocturnal

This tank is 24 inches long and 16 us gallons. I will get a longer tank that I can keep a pleco in though. I've been admiring zebra pleco too but it'll also depend on what's available. I'm bycotting the LFS that gave me horrific advice with this tank. So there's just one other independent shop. Possibly a second in a town 30 min drive from here. Will have to see what they have.

You're albino is really cute  the good thing is about a second tank, that I've time to plan it out right. And set it up without fish in Cycle crash.

it is a shame your store pulled this on you.

I honestly can't recommend a bristlenose enough. Only get one, though. Two males won't get along and a pair will need a larger tank. But theyre really fun fish, my guy is not shy, he's all over the place. Very active. He is my 5 year olds favorite fish.

Yeah my 2.5 yr old loves the Plecos or "shark fish".

I called an Aquarium 1.5hr drive from us & they took details & I should get a call tomorrow when their guy is at work. Lady on phone said if they can't them they should be able to help me properly re-home them.
