In post 1, the one with the hump is 100% male, white one under rock looks female but would like to see side profile shot to confirm. Is the one in the second post the same white fish in post 1? Either way this looks female too.

Only the males get big nuchal humps like the first one.

Interested what your set up is like :) What else do you keep in there and how big is the tank?

Yes the white one is the same fish in the second picture, if it’s an female why don’t they get along? They are always fighting
Thanks for the reply it’s a 75 gallon set up those 2 fish are they only ones in the tank.

Sometimes it just doesn’t work out the pairing process can be complicated. The pairing process also doesn’t always last and even if it does either fish could kill the other if they deem them as a threat to the young or if one of us ready to breed again and the other isn’t.

You might need to get a divider for the tank which can sometimes help but that’s more if you have an established pair and they fall out.

If you wanted a pair the best way to do it is get 8-10 youngsters and watch for two that naturally stay together. Then return the others and keep your newly established pair, like I say it does not always last - love is a cruel mistress

Worth mentioning that once they are in the swing of things these are very prolific and I believe they have very large broods so you may need to be prepared for that and have a relationship with some shops to take them off you when they are big enough.
