Hi all, I have a lid that is made out of transparent foil so the light hits tank water, but its such a bad idea. I just had a look on eBay for some plexiglass to make a lid out of this, but I can't see any perfect size for my tank..
I need a lid that will cover and secure any spaces where something could crawl out of the tank..
I'm asking about very secure lid as I think I will choose kuhli loaches as all the twigs I have in my tank I see as a waste of time including the oak leaves.
Any ideas?

I just had mine cut to size by https://www.thepolycarbonatestore.co.uk/
Just think about whether you want it to fit inside the tank or hang over the edges and measure carefully :)
Thank you! I'll definentely put the lid inside of the tank as the sides have huge holes for cables and stuff. I'll use the link and see how it looks and I should be able to get it either this or next Thursday. Thank you once again :)

But I think I'll need measuring tape first... To measure the insides of the tank.

Insides of my tank look different than on your tank you mentioned in your thread. This looks like this and I might have to order two halves:

What thickness should I take?

[/QUOTEHome Depot will cut plexiglass to fit your dimensions. Do you have any hardware stores like that in your Country?

Call your local hardware store/DIY center and ask where you can find a glass cutting shop. Be sure and measure accurately. I would get it cut in two pieces so it's easy to open for feeding etc. I have found the plexiglass will warp, so I recommend real glass, but ask the person at the shop. Sometimes a custom cut lid like this is actually cheaper than when you could get at a pet store or online.

Seangee's link in post #2 is probably the best. Even if B & Q sell it, they won't cut it at the moment as their cutting shop is still closed under the lockdown.

Yeah, I'll use Seangee's link as it looks cheaper for these two pieces.

Just be aware shipping cost as much as the lid - they insisted on using DHL and did not have another option for small items
Oh no :( That's too bad, well I hoping a bit I could get the lid sooner than waiting another two weeks.
Why they couldn't use Royal Mail?

@Deanasue made a good point. A store like Lowe’s or Home Depot will cut plexiglass for you. Plexiglass makes a really good, cheap tank lid.
Those stores do not exist in the UK. We have B & Q but our son reports that their cutting shop is still not working due to Covid-19 restrictions. They do sell sheets but you have to cut it yourself. Wickes also sell sheets.

There is one other option which won't look as good but you can cut yourself with a Stanley knife (I did this to replace a broken pane in the greenhouse) It should provide a lid of sorts until you can source something better. They have a couple of different sizes. https://www.diy.com/departments/ari...fing-sheet-l-1-2m-w-610mm-t-4mm/241217_BQ.prd
