Well, I would look for a platinum female to start with. Is it hard to find one or more, try to find for a female guppy that is recessive to the traits of her own strain (best is also that she won't have any markings or coloring in her fins). This goes only if you're planning to pass on the platinum trait to the new offspring. Does npt mean that the F1 (fisrt born generation) will have all male offspring with the characteristics of the father. But there will be a nice percentage of male offspring which will be a decent copy of the father. Culling is in place if you want to set up a specific guppy line.
But what do you call the best looking offspring to start with? Appearance (phenotype) is so personal. This person likes this shape, color or size and the other person likes the opposite. It remains a personal preference...

Platinum can cover the whole body or partial. Most have platinum on the chest or shoulder.
