What are the tank dimensions (length x width x height)?
What is the GH (general hardness), KH (carbonate hardness) and pH of your water supply?
This information can usually be obtained from your water supply company's website or by telephoning them. If they can't help you, take a glass full of tap water to the local pet shop and get them to test it for you. Write the results down (in numbers) when they do the tests. And ask them what the results are in (eg: ppm, dGH, or something else).
----------------------
The catfish looks like a juvenile Synodontis petricola or something similar and they come from Lake Tanganyika, which has very hard water (GH above 400ppm). They should also be kept in groups.
The Khuli Loach is a soft water fish, as is the bristlenose catfish. Angelfish and tetras are also soft water fishes.
----------------------
If you wanted to change the substrate you should have done it before adding new fish.
I would not change the substrate for at least 1 (preferably 2) weeks because the stress of being bought, caught and put into your tank, and then having the substrate changed, could be too much for the new fish.
----------------------
Your tank water looks milky cloudy and that is an indication there could be a water quality problem.
Check the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH of the water.
