Hey guys. Does this look like fin rot to anyone? I just now noticed it. His ends of his fins have always looked a little tattered but never this bad. If this is fin rot, what treatment can I do? If you need better pictures I can try and get some

The first thing you can do is do daily 75% water change, whats your water parameters?

Daily large water changes and a little aquarium salt will clear that up. Be sure to dissolve salt in a little tank water before adding it.

In this photos, it does not look like fin rot. Just in case, do a massive water change. Clean water = disease-free tank. Most people don't do adequate water changes (in my experience). Also, bettas tend to get a bit raggedy. Are those spikes on the pineapple heard enough to fray fins? Also, bettas like plant cover on the surface. Some of them like to sort-of lie down on the plants. They get nervous & stressed without adequate cover, which can leave them susceptible to issues. I've been keeping them (just for fun, not breeding) for 50 years (since childhood) & have had excellent luck keeping them in 5-10 gallon tanks with tons of cover & a few peaceful roommates. So you might try adding more real or artificial plant cover to see if your betta becomes less furtive & frayed.

Here's one of my own favorites:

Okay! I have three plants, I think they are called ferns just from my local pet store and I have one fake silk plant. And no, he actually likes to lay on the top of the pineapple spikes to relax haha! I made sure they weren't too spikey. What plants do you recommend?

I am still waiting for my API testing kit and 5 gallon tank from amazon. So right now he is housed in a 2.5 gallon tank with some fern plants and one fake silk plant. There is also a heater and a filter I run frequently but is a strong current which stresses him out so I don't do it for long periods of time.

I know it isn't recommended but yesterday I cleaned his entire tank and put fresh dechlorinated water in it with a little less than a teaspoon of aquarium salt for each gallon. So it was 2 teaspoons in diluted water

Once I do the 75% water change daily, would I put more salt in?

yes you add salt to the new water before adding the water to the tank.

Only add the amount of salt that you took out. For instance, you begin with 1 tablespoon for every 5 gallons. After that, each day you do a 75% water change and add 3/4 tablespoon of salt for every 5 gallons back in.
