Hi all,

This is one of those is she pregnant or is she not? query. I've read through loads of other posts and some photos I've seen of sick fish look like mine, but some photos of pregnant fish look like mine.

It feels like she's been pregnant for years! Obviously she hasn't but it's definitely been a few months. She seems healthy, happy and normal. No one else has been sick in this tank. I'm pretty sure she had a gravid spot.

Any advice would be very welcome, can provide track parameters of if needed.

Thanks very much!

She's clearly heavily pregnant and if I'm not mistaken in photos 6 & 7 she has what appears to be a large gravid spot which would also confirm pregnancy.

Do you think she'll release her spawn soon? She looks like she's just gonna pop!

I know this is a bit old now but, she still hasn't given birth - should we be worried? All healthy and happy as Larry otherwise.

The gestation period in platys is around 28 days, so I wouldn't be too concerned yet, especially as she seems happy and content.

So, she's still not given birth. It's been over 28 days. Her belly hasn't squared off the way my other fish have.

She really doesn't act stressed at all, I don't see how she could be. Swimming done. She just acts like a normal fish!

Tank parameters are normal, checked them on the weekend. It's all fine, absolutely nothing to be concerned about.

Tank mates are, 5 ghost glass cat fish, 6 corys, 3 make guppies, 1 other female platy, 1 bristlenose, 1 assassin snail. They're fed every other day.

0ppm nitrite
7.4ph
0.25ppm ammonia (water change done to combat)
10ppm nitrate

Is it something else? Is she just fat? Worms? Should I worm them? Should I put her on the hospital tank?

She has a garvid spot, this is what makes it so confusing for me! I've looked at other photos of platy rainbow wagtails and some have little bellies but not like her.

Help!

What size tank is it?

Sorry, missed that one, 110L
It's possible she's stressed out with the other fish around. Are any of them seeming to pick on her?

Nope. It's the calmist fish tank I've ever seen!

The other rainbow platy with her was also that big, but gave birth and is now normal size.
