Finally found a place that stocks Otos fairly locally so I got 5 of the little critters....

One for each of the sections of my divided betta tank (instead of the evil red clawed crabs I had for less than 24H before I took them back)... I put the other in my half-hexagon 9G tank.

Heres a couple of pictures...

Nice pics bunjiweb

Can you take one when they're 'walking' on their tail-fins. Not kidding, mine does this, and its the funniest thing I've ever seen them do!

They've also the cheekiest 'smiles' when they're grazing algae on the glass!

Aww they are cuties - here are my oto's which I got last week. Pictures not great as they scarper when I go near the tank.

Oh I give up! I've just spent the last 5 minutes trying to get a picture of one, or any, of my Oto's 'walking'. My batteries have just run out. I'll catch them out yet!!

I admit it. I am slightly over-enthusiastic about my Oto's. I was referrring to the way they 'shuffle' along the glass with their tales touching the gravel substrate, giving the impression they're 'walking.'

I am guilty of over-statement, but who can blame me for falling for them?

i've not seen mine "walk" either - will keep an eye out for this and try and snap it if I can.

mine are bone-idle when it comes to eatin algea.. i have little patches of it on my glass... juust little spots.. but not one of the 3 i have have touched it.. they sit 'bathing' all day on my vialis... same goes for my bristlenose plec.. he just lies on my bogwood all day..

I have 3 Oto's in one tank and 2 SAE's in the other. Originally, both tanks had roughly the same light sprinkling of algae on the surfaces, but now, the one with the Oto's has hardly any.

I wonder does it matter what type of algae you've got? (Mine's rusty coloured)
