I have 2 female puffers (I think) and one (seen at the top of the photo) just always seems to be skinny looking and almost anorexic at times. They dont seem to have a bully situation and the skinny one is always first to have its fill when I feed them! I've even tried feeding multiple times through the day. I just always feel bad like she's hungry and I need to feed her I even have pest snails that reproduce in another little tank to give them as treats but she never puts on weight? Any ideas?

Check with the place you bought them from to see if they dewormed them.

That tank is WAY to small, has no filter or heater, and has no substrate.

They need at least 29 gallons, or 110 liters, to live in. Their aquarium needs to be at least 48″ x 12″ x 12″ (120cm x 30cm x 30cm).

They also need a filter, and a heater. May I please see a picture of the full tank?

This is a proper caresheet for “Pea Puffers”.....http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/tetraodon-nigroviridis/

Please seriously consider getting a bigger tank, and reading the caresheet, thank you.

The OP says they are pea puffers so 2-3gallons per fish is sufficient.

It would be sufficient in a big tank. You can’t just go by the old “1 gallon per in. Of fish”m because it is highly incorrect. According to that logic, I could keep a 1 ft long fish, in a 12 gallon aquarium.....See? It doesn’t make any sense. I strongly suggest to the OP, to read that care sheet, and to get a bigger tank.

So Phoenix, are you saying the fish are NOT pea puffers? Your link is for green spotted puffers instead.
See care sheet for pea puffers:

I'm not sure how a link to a green spotted puffer info sheet going to help the OP, here's a link to dwarf puffers instead - http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/carinotetraodon-travancoricus/

If that is addressed to Phoenix, fine. If it was to me then you have just repeated my information.

But, yes, deworming. Puffers are prone to internal parasites, so will need to be dewormed occassionally, especially if they're being fed snails.

Agreed. Deworm, keep water clean and keep feeding a balanced diet.

Ok, I’m done here. Good job to the OP for upgrading in the future.

@Colin_T, or @Byron, please come and sort this out.

Phoenix you just need to explain your position. What is it that needs sorting out?

The OP says they are pea puffers, AKA dwarf puffer or carininatetraodon travancoricus. They included a picture and I am satisfied they are correctly identified.

Your information on tank size and the link you provided didn't fit this fish, it is for a green spotted puffer AKA tetraodon nigroviridis.

I have not kept any puffer fish so wouldn't normally comment but have researched them before so when I saw this I wanted to ensure the OP, and others had the correct information, like you, I referred them to seriously fish.

Yes, the fish would be better in a 5 or 10 gallon tank than the bowl but unless we address the OPs question, why is one fish skinny, we risk it dying. Saying 2 one inch fish need 29 gallons is a distraction at best.
