Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): He is a white betta. When He arrived I noticed a clear pectoral fin. I thought maybe it was regrowth from an injury. A month later it is still clear. He is breathing heavily and it looks like a little red spot under this fin by his gills. It's hard to see. Today he has been resting in his plants, gravel, and cave. Not swimming much. He is eating.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 20 percent water changes weely.

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: when I first got him I used api stress coat. Now I am using prime.

Tank inhabitants: java fern, anubias, arrogant blue, marimo ball and hornwort. Also terracota caves. I use a sponge filter as well. He also has a floating Betta log.

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): none

    Exposure to chemicals: none.

What are you testing with? Did you cycle the tank? There aren’t many plants in there so I question the nitrates being 0. Do a 70% water change now and let us know what you’re testing with.

I have java ferns covering the back and left side of the tank. I thought this would be enough for a "silent cycle". I'm using the api master test kit.

Having a clear fin is nothing to worry about but if a fish is lethargic or stops eating then that is a concern.

The water in the picture appears milky cloudy. Do a 75% water change and gravel clean each day for a couple of weeks.

If you can provide another picture showing the red spot it might help.

You should put a picture on the back of the tank to help the fish feel more secure.

I will. Thank you. I got him fin and body last night and there was a little improvement from last night. He's not breathing as fast. The pinkish spot is tiny and up under his clear fin. I don't think my phone can even catch it. I did mail order him from Thailand, so I know stess had been a factor for him too.

I've been doing water changes and vacuuming. He is still looking pretty rough. At the bottom breathing heavily and not eating. I think he was sick when I got him but not showing signs yet. I started general cure this morning. Is there anything else I can do for him. He was shipped to me so I'm sure that was stressful. Ive have him for just under a month and he was very playful. I thought he may have been breathing heavy when I got him. I figured stress, so he got stess coat in the begining.
