What kind of fish is this?

i netted these tiny purple fish at my local pond and was wondering what kind of fish they are.

Which country and state do you live in?
Do you live in a rural area or suburbia?

They look like a cichlid but could be something else, like a perch.

The following links have some images of freshwater fishes native to New Jersey. I didn't see anything that resembles your fish but they are probably juveniles that will change as they mature. Grow them up and see what they turn into.

Ok thanks. In my opinion, they look like small cichlids (I doubt they are) so I’m assuming it’s a small species of sunfish. They’re in one of my tanks now. I’ll keep you updated

They are sunfish- they look like greens or bluegills. Sunnies are neat aquarium fish, but check your state fishing regulations about keeping them. They are generally regulated as game fish.
