Kribensis breeding

Hey all
Just wondered if there are any kribensis breeders on here? My tank is a community and I was recommended kribensis for my centre piece fish... I was delighted to get them home! Have had no issues with nipping, no stress related problems for any fish and they are great little characters, not shy at all!

But a month in and the female looks like she's been snacking on a marble! I am concerned that should she lay eggs they will get super terorial... Is there anything I can? Can anyone suggest if I should add more of a hiding place out of the way? She seems taken by hanging out beside my filter at the min. Also would any fry realistically stand a chance of hatching in my heavily planted tank? I don't particularly want them to breed and was told that this is uncommon... I now know that this was a fib! Hi, Kribensis are great fish, they have beautiful colour and behaviour. I had a pair once that bred in my community tank but really made my other fishes lives a misery with their protective nature towards the fry, the tank was only 90L so this made the situation worse so it really depends on the size of your tank as to whether or not you may get away with it, and also on the pair themselves. I ended up moving the other fish, mainly platys out into another tank and left the Kribensis and their fry to it in the 90L, they were great parents and their care was fascinating to watch, I do miss them.
They like spawning in caves so something like a small terracotta plant pot or coconut cave may help for her to retreat to but there is no way of stopping them from breeding if they are together and have paired up, splitting them up or keeping them in their own tank is the only way to save the hassle your other fish will get from them protecting eggs or fry from now on.

Hi, After a long time searching for a krib pair. Finally got them. My Male always chases the female. Have a doubt whether the one in pic is female or not. Please let me know

That is a male. Also I used to have one female in my 60 gallon. She was full of eggs but waiting for a male. She was always guarding and nipping at the others, so I moved her to her own tank with a male. Easiest thing to do. They are great community dish until you put a pair together.

I'm not convinced that is a male but will need more photos preferably with the male next to the fish in question, with some more lighting to be sure.

I see a male. A female isn't as long or doesn't have pointy fins. Thus picture does.

They can vary a bit depending on age and breeding condition, the eye spots in the caudal fin is sometimes indicative of a female but the photo is not clear enough to make a definite assumption to me.

Females are more round and blump. Males are longer.
