So here are a few pictures of my new betta Spike. He's supposedly a crown tail but I'm not so sure. I'll try and capture some more of him when he displays his "plumage" a little more.

I have a matching female so hope to breed them soon

Yea he doesn't have those spiky tail fins at all. Maybe they'll grow out but I'm thinking he's probably a veil tail

Hi

Hes not a Crown tail, He could be a Delta or or super delta, half moon or over half moon he could even be a young Rosetail hard to tell with out seeing him flare.

This is my Rose tail, His fins are still growing.

And this is my Halfmoon

Here are some more pictures, I added water spangles and a new plant between the bog wood and rock bridge

That looks great, well done

Looks like a happy betta. He's a VT by the way. His dorsal fin is far too long and thin to be anything else. Healthy fins none the less :D

Thanks for clarifying my little girl has been speculating over it all week. We were sold him as a crown tail, hence the name, but thought maybe the spines will show as he gets older

I've noticed his face is getting darker but a lot of betta change colour over time, especially as he is well settled in the tank.

I tried to feed him daphnia today but he just watched it all flutter to the bottom. He's as fussy as my cats over food.

Since owning Spike we have been through the mill. We added 4 Otocinclus that we believed would be a good match for him and all seemed well..... until it wasn't!!

Since then Spike has been moved to a new tank of a more suitable size, all for himself and in the living room where he gets to see everyone.

I finished the final planting today.
