Hi Everyone,
So about a month or so ago I purchased 3 Ruby Head Barbs, I was on vacation last week and while I was home I noticed one of them has been showing signs of a shrinking stomach. to the point where its now flat. I am wondering if this is wasting disease or possibly early stages of fish TB.
Water parameters are good. No Ammonia/ Nitrites. Nitrates are around 30ppm. The water temperature at the time of this post is around 80 degrees, but normally i keep it around 78-79. I do a 25-30% water change every week, week and a half.
I feed the fish a few different foods. I add Colbalt Spirulina flakes, as well also New Life spectrum pellets, they are fed 2 times a day. Once at round 630am the other around 5-6pm
This little barb is the runt in the tank, I don't see him getting bullied much, most of the fish just ignore him as he tries to keep out of their way. His colours are certainly not the same as the other two, it is faded. He is somewhat active, I do see him swim around the tank however he prefers to to hide in my amazon sword and stay close to one of my tank heaters.
He will eat stuff off the sword, however, I have seen him spit flake food out, and certainly doesnt have the appetite of the other fish.
So I am not to sure how to proceed. Should I assume the worst and euthanize? Or could this be stress related? What could I do to help him out? I do have a smaller tank, however, i feel the move may shock him to death.
No other fish in this tank are showing these signs.
I have added a pic. its not the best because he likes to hide in the back. I will try to get a better one when he comes out.
