Betta imbellis question

Hello everyone, I was wondering if betta imbellis can be equally as social with its owner as betta splendens? Also, are they as smart as betta splendens? Either way I am happy as the one I have is a great fish. He is in a 10 gallon with stable water parameters. The box in the background is from an old setup no longer in use. He might not be an imbellis, I'm not sure. The container at the store said "king betta".

That is a splendens, can't answer the imbellis question as I have never kept them.

King bettas are just betta splendens that were line breed for their larger size. He's just a big plakat (short finned) splendens. You can assume that all bettas sold in individual cups are betta splendens. Most wild types are labeled as such and probably cost a bit more then the average betta.
