My koi angelfish I have chatted about in other topics still hasn't gotten all of his or her color. It's starting to get a pearlescent color but it's only on it's chest and only spots on its sides. And then it's fins are getting some pearlescent color to it but that's it. I thought by now it's color Would almost fully be there. Am I doing something wrong or is thus just how it's going to look???
You can see the pearl spots on the second picture. It doesn't seem to be spreading all older it's body.

Also can anyone be 100% sure if it's a male or female?? I've been told female?

Only way to 100% sex angels is when the breeding tube is visible.

That maybe be the colouring its going to be, doesnt mean you have done anything wrong. Just let it mature and be happy for a healthy fish

I really love my fish and only want the best for them all. Was just curious. He or she is still pretty small. But I have seen a significant growth in the past month. Went from the size of a quarter to the size of a half dollar. It might just be because it's a mix? And it just might not get the full pearlscale look?

Could be a mix. I love angels, i have 11 of them myself :)

Well I've be told it's a blushing pearlscale koi. Cat really tell it's a koi or a pearlscale.
I really love angelfish as well. Such beautiful creatures. :)

Blushing yep, doesnt look pearlscale to me, and could be koi. Tis only young though, so may develop more

So just give it time. I just see lots of other angelfish at our lfs and they are smaller than mine and have all of their color already. Guess mine is just a late bloomer :)

hiya, 'she' looks fine to me

I just thought I'd show you a picture of a pearlscale angelfish

Can you see that the scales along the body don't sit flat - they look more like corn rows .... that is what a pearlscale angelfish is. It means there's a deformity in the scales. These angels are now bred with the deformity as some people like pearlscale. The pearlscale can appear as only minor as in the fish above (used to be mine but had to be re-homed when it got too aggressive to my other angels) or it can be more pronounced. To show you that I'll have to turn to the internet...

Both of the angels in the photo's are platinum angels and so are pure white so I wouldn't worry too much about your angels colour. If the little one is eating and pooping normally then it's healthy in my experience

Haha yes she (thinking and hoping it's a she), is very healthy. Just was hoping she would be shiner. Will Love her regardless. Just curious.

I'd say female going by your photo's but it's incredibly difficult to sex angels accurately :)

She does have a really round head and body and she is very sweet. Not agressive. And to be honest I think my male and her have paired up. She follows him everywhere. He used to be very agressive to her but not anymore. Only chases her once in a while like when foods involved. Other than that they are right next to each other all day. She follows him like a shadow. It's really sweet :)

that's nice, I wish my two were as nice to each other. I sometimes think my male gets really fed up of the female constantly bullying him. Last night he was sat in the plants looking pale and fed up.
I keep wondering if he'd be happier on his own but I don't want to get rid of either of them
