Update On Upgrading My Tank

Ok guys,

So first of all thanks for the advice it worked amazingly!.

The tank now has the fish in as I tested all of the levels and after about a day they were perfect as I used my old filter media with the new filter.


I do have one question, I have added some new gravel (I did wash it all out beforehand.).
I dont know if it is coicidence but since I have added the gravel my water seems a little cloudy.

So I replaced the Poly/carbon pads in my filter. [ I have the fluval U3 filter ]

24 hours later it doesnt seem any different with my old filter If I added carbon it would clear up the water.

Does anyone know if these poly/carbon pads are useless?

Anyone have any advice?

This is my oranda.. who my misses named 'Bubbles' about 14 years ago...

I have now recused him as her parents had him in a 18 litre tank!!!!!

So this is the 3 foot  125-130 litre tank





p.s my son chose the penguin and the spongebob ornaments.....

Just an update, my carbon seems to be doing it job and the water is less cloudy!

Cute that your son picked those Looks like a good start!

I also have sponge Bob and squid wards houses in my 55 gallon.... my sons decision. Lol.
Looks great. Glad you got a better home for the oranda!

I upgraded about a week and a half ago, used the old filter, gravel, ect...now the last 3 days it's been awfully cloudy. Water still tests good though.

Now I need to get rid of this fin rot that the oranda had when I got him..

Its quite bad.. sooo  thinking salt baths?  what do you guys think?
