Hello everyone,

About a week ago one of my female mickey mouse platys passed away, So the other day i asked my sister to pick up another for me so my males would not overwhelm my other girls. The problem is i believe she picked up a pregnant one. The platty has a little plump look to her and is somewhat round from the front view and looks very different from my other two. She has a large dark area in her middle and im not sure if thats what everyone speaks of from the other posts. She is a little on the small side though so i dont think she will get huge like others pictures show. I have not had any babies yet so this is new for me i would love to hear any thoughts you have.

I will attach some pictures, If they do not turn out please let me know they are so hard to photograph. One shows her next to a male panda platy and he is under 1 and 1/2 inches so im thinking shes only about an inch.

she looks it, they're sometimes kept in mixed tanks in the shops, the males will have as much choice as they could desire

She is gravid. Don't worry the males will still chase her as well as the others you have, it won't hurt her its natural.

I agree with them, and the fry that survive will also bring in "new blood".  That way any fry from your current females and male wont always inbreed. There will be some. But it can help them be healthier.

I'd say that she is pregnant and the dark spot is her gravid spot. If you don't want the fry all you have to do is leave them and chances are the other fish and the mother will eat the babies.
