I ordered 3 coconut caves and they have arrived today and I was wondering if I needed to do anything to them before I put them in my tanks.

Also I have a 8cm, 10cm and 12cm

I want to have
1 for my kribensis pair in a 70 litre
1 for my apistogramma pair in my 110 litre
And 1 for my 10 panda Cory's also in my 110 litre
Which size do you think would suit each fish.
From Tom

wash them and possibly a quick boil just to make sure they are completely clean for your fishys

You don't need to boil them (or any wood, for that matter; it just softens the fibres and makes them break down faster). You can pour boiling water over them, if it makes you feel better!

Give the largest one to the kribs; the other two don't matter too much.

Thanks for the quick replies and this is what the tank looks like now it's my first all live plant natural looking tank.

It's looking very good; you should be happy! It'll look even better in a month or two, when the plants have grown a bit and filled out :)

I'm still looking for some dwarf hairgrass to go at the front of the big piece of rock and around the entrances of the caves. Also what would be a good plant to replace the plants in the right hand corner as they are not doing to well. I would like them to be about the same size and be good at clumping together. Some of the plants are growing already and when the time comes to cut some of the plants what should I use. Can I use normal scissors from Tom

i boil everything i put into my tanks. i also put it some sea salt in the water.   if if after boiling, it doesnt smell right [chemical smell or whatever], i toss it.

your tank looks great, btw. i have the same type of plant on the far right.  mine grow like weeds, though.

Do you know the name of the plant on the far right from Tom

A nice looking tank, very natural and will look even better when plants have grown more. Nice

Looks like Bacopa Monnieri perhaps.

Should of gone to Asda They tatse better. Lol and cheaper easy to cut.

Thanks for all the help I looked at the name of the plant and it was close but not the same one. Also the kribs love their cave and have filled in the most of the doorway in. I got 3 caves from 8 to 12cm off of eBay for £7 with free 48 hour delivery which I think is a good deal. Also wanted to know how to get apistogramma to breed as I do the same with them as I do with my kribs and my kribs have had 5 batches of eggs and the apistogramma have had none. :( I can't wait for it all to grow too but will be replacing the plants in the right hand corner as they are still sheading and almost bare but everything else is rooted and growing which is good.
