Hi,
I just received a pleco from a couple that was moving out of town, and it appears to have 2 skin diseases. One consists of grey cottony patches slightly raised on the body. The second is an orange discoloration toward the tail. I'm assuming the cottony patches are fungal, but don't know about the other discoloration. Should I treat the 60 gallon tank for fungus. His tank mates are two cichlids and water conditions are now pristine though they were awful in the tank I received him from. Any product recommendations?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hello; sorry you haven't had a reply yet, apologies!

I would concentrate on keeping the water in tip top condition and see if the fish improves. Neither of those patches look like much to worry about, IMO.

The first pic looks more like slight scarring; perhaps from heater burns or the fish scraping itself in hiding places.

If those marks starts to slime off then that's the time you can worry. Update us :)
