So I'm gonna post some pictures to show what my fish looks like, I'm pretty sure it's a flying fox (that's what it was sold to me as) but I just wanna double check. Although, it may be harder to tell because he's such a young fish (you can see how big he is in the pics compared to my guppies). There isn't really anything I can comment on about this fish's behaviour, apart from he gets along with his tank mates, eats normal fish food as well as algae and likes to have something to sleep on, like a rock or a leaf. And I don't actually know if he's male or female.

That looks like a flying fox to me. How big is your tank? They can get upwards of 6 inches so you need space for it.

My tank will be too small for him when he grows. I don't think he will get more than 5 inches but I know it's a possibility he could get to 6 in. But I am going to save up to get a 3 foot tank which will be fine for him.

I think you'll need a minimum of a 4 ft tank for a fish of that size. They like to swim so 3 ft would be a bit too small.

Okay I will see how it goes with the 3 ft tank and if I notice he's unhappy with the space then I don't mind rehoming him if he'll be happier. Thanks for the info!

well, they need 4 ft as Lunar mentioned, so its not really if you notice hes unhappy more of a requirement.

The tank I'm gonna get will be 32 gals and I read that flying foxes should have 20 - 40 gals. Surely this would be fine? The tank is 3 ft but its quite deep.
