Wills, Coxwell aquatics just emailed me saying they have tracked down a rotkiel severum, ive found some of the other fish locally so im not going to go with delivery now. Thought I'd tell you incase you were on the look out for one. They sent me a pic too and it looks gorgeous. I kinda want it but its abit expensive paying delivery for one fish ;-)

Coxwell are a good shop from what I have heard - how much does it come to with postage? The thing with Cichlids is they live for upto 10-12 years so paying £30 - £40 is sometimes worth it for me so see what you think.

They didn't mention a price but im not sure what to do now. I've got the tank home and it's not the one I was sold. It is 250 liters not 330, the fuse for the lights are missing so what if it isnt even water tight now! Im really panicking for being so stupid! I trusted someone I havent even met properly!
Tell me if im being stupid but I just really don't know what to do!

Think im using the forum as an agony aunt now :'(

Coxwell emailed me back and the severum is £30 here's a pic...

Aww man that really sucks!! Does the tank its self look in good condition - if its dirty try and look past the dirt...

Second hand tanks are always a risk - did you talk to the guy about the last time it had water in? When moving it did you notice any iffy sections of sealant or glass. If its a glass bottom tank did it have polystyrene under it? Does it have all its brace bars across the middle? If its a floating base tank is the floating base cracked or damaged?

If the fuse is missing from the lights its not the end of the world - so long as you got the tank at a good price - but if it is just the fuse just look at it as a good thing :) You see some second hand tanks that are a nightmare and others that dont even come with lights...

The good news is that all the fish we talked about would work in a 250 but I dont think you could do all 4 big cichlids with the Rams - I would go for the Rotkiel and the Blue Acara with the Rams, school of tetras and pictus. BUT actually thinking about it now long term its not going to be big enough for the Sailfin...

It is an all pond solutions 250 instead of the 330l. It is in good condition, it seems to be watertight so far anyway, I've washed my sand and put it in so it has about an inch of water in there until Saturday when im going to be filling it up, it all looks fine and she has reassured me that it is water tight. I started a thread asking about the fuse situation and had good responses so hopefully that will be sorted next week.
I will be selling the sailfin in the near future then.. It's a pity because he is the biggest reason I got a new tank. I'll be putting him in there for a while be because he's currently in a tank far too small for him.

I got some new pictus cats today, 2 little 2inchers for £10 so they are in my community tank to grow out for a while

I'll put my 7" common pleco in the new one with the pictus, rams and others I can track down instead.
Are Columbian tetra still suitable? I really like them and my lfs regularly stocks them. I also like Buenos Aires tetra if they would be more suitable but I have read they can be big nippers.
