Ideas.... For A Tree?

So, anyone ever made an .......underwater bonsai tree? Im not sure what to call it, but if you google Aqua Bonsia Tree, youll see what im talking about.
Anways,
I am making one for my new 5 gallon. I found a good piece of driftwood for the trunk, and now im just trying to figure out what im going to use for limbs.... Could I just use sticks, with the bark scraped off?. How could I attach the sticks? If I could even use sticks.... My goal is to cover said sticks with Christmas moss, creating, well.... a tree effect.

Ideas?

I'm interested in this topic. I have a perfect branch and lots of java moss, but wondering if there's a better-than-average technique?

Best thing to do is use some moss which grows in a uniform pattern like xmas,fissidens or weeping, glue small clumps along the branches and then let it grow, trim and shape.

One of my old tiny ones in a 1Litre pico.

My piece of driftwood doesn't have any branches, so I have to figure out what to do there.
@Ps3Steveo, do you think I could just use sticks with the bark pulled off? After a good scrub and boil first of course. And do you know of any thing safe for aquarium use that I could use to attach the sticks?

McCool, don't boil wood as it breaks down the fibers and it will rot in the tank. Debark, scrub well and pour boiling water over the pieces, but don't put it in boiling water.

And you can use Super Glue, with just cyanoacrylate.

My friend has a tiny tree in her tank as well. But instead of the trailing mosses, she tied on a couple of the marimo moss balls. tottally dif effect, but very cool

Speaking of glue... i use super glue for javas and anubias, but as far as needing a good silicone type glue, do i have to go with the "aquarium glue"? its so expensive and i need a lot for a couple projects :shifty:

Look for clear mastic called HA6 on the Internet ... It is a few quid for a big tube

Any adhesive that's 100% silicone will be fine.

Hi guys, what do you think of this aquarium tree I found? I'm afraid I didn't bring it back as I run out of baggage allowance.

IU did bring some bits back though.

I have recently made a "tree". I just broke a piece of wood off a downed tree then using a stainless screw attached it to some slate. I put it in a Bucket of boiling water. It now stands the entire height of my 55 gallon.

1st try at making my own drift wood. Going to attach some java moss for that "tree" effect.
