These were plakats and from what I've heard, plakats are harder to breed. They fight too much. It took them a looong time to get to know one another

Yes, he's the orange plakat in the thread you just commented in. silver, Yes,that's how it went, looking back on it he may have been eating bad eggs and possibly all of them were bad (on a couple occasions), I've been told orange eggs are weird and a lot of people give up on them because their eggs melt away. I witnessed that on many occasions but I assumed it was a fungus.
I've also had just nearly free swimming fry and he destroyed every last one of them. But just let them do their thing, practice makes perfect

Don't count your fry until dad's out and they're free swimming. Anything can go wrong before then

eggs have landed woo hoo... he isnt picking them up though lets give him some time, they seem to be a little gentle with each other this time around...no nipping...
