I have a 10 gallon Betta tank and a few months ago I tried adding some Red Cherry Shrimp to his tank. He was fine for a while but then started chasing them, so I fished them all out and added them to my 30 gallon tank.

Then I decided to switch some things around and moved my big driftwood from the 30 gallon to the Betta tank and a few of the shrimp hitch hiked with it. So far he's been good. It may also have something to do with that there are a lot more hiding places for them now.

You can try the shrimp with your Betta, but be prepared to rescue them and have a tank for them at the ready! Hope this helps!

Yes, it'll be fine.

Depends on the temperament of the betta. Mines aggressive so killed ghost shrimp.

As said above though be prepared for them to be rejected.

Agree with man of fish. Different fish are different. Some bettas don't care about shrimp and just leave them alone ... others will eat them. It's impossible to predict what'll happen but if you want to take the risk and think there's a possibility your betta just won't care then ... :good:

as man of fish said its all abot temperment ive had my betta for 3 months with 6 amano shrimp and my betta is so docile its unbelievable he even plays about with my BN plec wich the plec doesnt really like

I just would like to add that if he does not like one type of tank mate, he may like another. As I stated above mine did not like shrimp, he did also not like snails, but he loves the Kuhli Loaches!

One of mine lives happily with cherry shrimp, the others ate them.
Some Bettas are very laid back & get along with most tank mates, others just want to be by themselves
