ok, this is kind of wired well i have never seen it,
i checked on my tank a little over 4 hours ago everyone was there, i go back now and i find a... well i think it is pretty much left overs,

i had 9 females in the tank, now unless somethings just dropped in and i have no idea what it is, and shes hiding somewhere, all thats left is back half of her body and part of her head, no organs are left

has anyone ever seen this before?

btw im not going to take a photo of her, though i this picture is to show more or less what has happened, note that this is not her i just got a photo from google and photoshoped it to something what i found

well yes if a male doesnt like a female because it refuses to breed it will simply murder it

this was a all female tank it has 1 male in there though his in an internal tank, (the female tank is a breeding tank male go's into a smaller tank inside were the female is moved to when she is ready to breed)

Maybe having a male in full sight of the females, is causing aggression amongst the girls.
Can you not move him out of their sight?

i can though makes the point of the breeding tank mook, though in saying that i could just go with the old breeding tank set up.

I used to feed a lot of females betta in the same tank , this thing has also happened with my fish. There are some fish were eaten.
I guess that after I fed them , their stomach is full & fat so it's easily to be attacked by other fish! Yeah! they were eaten.

You just shouldn't keep bettas together...no matter what their gender is...
Not many people listen when I say this, but...EVERY single betta will fight if it is in a tank with another one of its species...
All bettas should just be kept solitary..
Perhaps you could do what I have done with my males and make a perspex set up for them that keeps them apart..
I have seen this happen A LOT, mostly in pet shops when they believe it is all good to keep females together...
And then they kill eachother...

This is what I believe, anyway...

Female bettas can live in groups if the tank is right with no problem. In a decent sized tank (10gal or up), a group of females should be fine with enough cover and plants.

It could quite possibly be you have a secret short finned male?

Maybe even a aggressive female, leader of the pack?

Are there any sharp ornaments in tank, I doubt its coz the males insight as mine can always see a male, how long have they lived together

I have had multiple females in the same tank a number of times and I am in the process of setting up a new one as we speak. Ill post detail as I get closer to putting it together.

Let's not forget that fish are very opportunistic feeders. It may have not been a "Let's kill her and eat her corpse!" but perhaps a "Oh look, a corpse! let's eat it!"

Basically, the betta may have just dropped dead for unknown reasons. It's known to happen. Thee other fish just plucked out all the "good parts"

that is true. thought only for males, you see in the wild and even in tanks, females swim together to protect them self's from males and predictors, the only reason why females ever fight are to show who is the alpha female, or the leader of the pack,
for breeding unless you have a insane amount of cash on your hands it is not very feasible to try and house each female you have in there own tank, as most breeders like to have 3 females to 1 male, now to put that blunt i have 7 males, if i tried to house each female i would have 21 tanks ~,~ even if i set up each tank into a 3 zone house that would be 7 tanks excluding the breeding tank as i would need still a house for them to rest, heal, live in,
now on another level just having the tank set up is all good and fine, placing the tank is another thing, i like to keep most of my tanks in the same place, as most do, though getting power to them is another thing, im finding it hard to power the ones i have ~,~ 2 plus per unit filter and heater, and once i get it a over head light for them all, that is if i can get one that big ~,~ lol
still in saying that, i see the point of keeping females to them selfs, and to put it blunt i am insane, and im tired of my females getting hurt, i am putting them into 3zoned tanks, just powering them is the hard part, not to mention placing the tank in safe and good spot,

Angrypuppy, what the #60### are you talking about? I never had problems with my sorority except one death

Please watch your language!

i turned my 30g into a sorority successfully for about 6 months now and i really havent had any problems with other than having a couple of really aggressive females trying to show dominance which subsided when i kept them in 'time out' for a for a little bit (which is just keeping them in a breeder trap for a couple days) they were fine the only thing my females will fight over is if i put male in (inside the breeder trap) the tank or if i give them algae wafers i give my cories and also my females have a few room mates besides themselves i have glow light tetras von rios and albino cories in with them and they love them

so idk where people get bettas have to be completely solitary fish

i tried putting 2 females into a breeding cage b4, as soon as i let them out they started to attack again,
though i have had in my 60G tank over 20 females b4, not one died just this lot are a bit more aggressive, funny though ha, the really aggressive ones are the best breeders ~,~, no wonder there though with mine anyway there the bigger ones.

i have made the tank they were in a breeding tank, now i have the females set up in a few 15g tanks that i have split into 3 zone tanks, they seem pretty now ~,~ EVEN 1 of them is making a bubble nest, lol then brakes it, nar but these ones are the aggressive females only, the less aggressive ones i have in my 30G tank they also seem pretty happy though as im trying to get a few more females im going to have to prob set up so that i can put them all into 15G tanks, not that there cheaper in the end, though this way i dont have to worry that any are going to be attacked
