I bought a male and two female swordtails from my lfs five weeks ago. The shop assistant said theat both females were pregnant. One, the wagtail lost its gravid spot about a week ago but is still very large (fat??). The male died a week after purchase from a disease called "Neon tetra disease" (i cannot remember the full name). The question is is are either of these fish pregnant because I heard their pregnancy lasts four week and I have had these for five.
Thanks for any help you can give to a beginner.

Also if you have any idea about how long it might be until I get babies it would be greatly appreciated. :)

Welcome to our forum Mattatat.
Neither of your fish look close to a drop to me. The wag tail looks like it may be 2 weeks away while the other seems to be a bit closer to a drop. If you keep in mind that swordtails show less changes than mollies, the link in my signature to My Molly's Progress may give you some help understanding what you are seeing.

Welcome to the forum!

It doesn't look like they're all that close to a drop, but keep in mind that they can still have fry six months from now. :good:

Thanks
I will watch and wait and try to be patient...

It is a week later and the female, not the wagtail but the other one looks about the same size but a bit fatter, Is she ready to be put in a breeding trap such as this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003D108LO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&m=A2QSYGMYD81DCC

Is this a good one as I have not bought it yet?

Also, will they be fine on crushed flake food?

that is the same one that I use, I don't put the divider in so she has more room but be warned the fry can get through the net I put it in the fry tank I have my large platy had her babies I sat watching as the fry went through the bottom and sides, because it was in the tank I wanted the fry in I wasn't bothered

it is a lovely large trap I love mine

There are other swordtails, tetras, a pleco and soon to be some upside down catfish, so any that escape the trap will be eaten.
What other traps are good?

Here are some more pics, they don't look like they have made much progress to my untrained eyes but I don't really know?
