Rosso was showing off after I cleaned his tank today, so I grabbed the camera to get a few shots. He's so cute. These two pics are pretty much the same position, but show a little bit of how his color changes in the light.

:flex: Now where did that baster go?

I love this pic of him, I think he looks so pretty. :D And I finally got a nice clear shot of him - not easy to do! He's a crazy one.

Thanks wuv. :D I'm so proud to own him, I think he's lovely. And I just happened to get lucky as far as his finnage goes - it's awesome. When he is fully flared his lobes look almost perfectly symmetrical. And though it's not necessarily what's desirable, I love the blue accents he has.

Edit: I forgot to add, these are the first pics he has had taken since the near-fatal "pot incident". His fins have all grown back to normal, you'd never know he almost died. I think he looks better now then he did before he got stuck. :p

Hes lush!!! where ever did you find him ? ive neva seen a double tailed betta b4!!!!

u wud neva have known he had almost died, how long did it take for his fins to grow back ?

Thanks Sorrel, from both of us.

Caroline - Thank you! :) I found him at a pet store I sometimes visit. He was just in with all the veiltails, I was very surprised no one had grabbed him yet. Perhaps they thought he looked strange. :p I also have a double tail female, who I found at Walmart.

His fins took only a week or so to begin showing new growth, because I gave him extra special care and meds. They weren't completely gone, so it has taken probably a few months for them to grow all the way back.

have u got a pic of the double tailed female ?

i wud love to see that!! im surprised u havent tried to breed the pair of them and please the world with more double tailed beauties!!!

Out of curiousity, what did you end up using to block the backs of the pots? I have quite a few of those and I would hate to see that happen. :(

Isn't it amazing what you can find at the pet stores if you know what to look for?! B)

Sorrell - I actually found some pots that have smaller holes in the bottom, at Walmart (look for em!). For the others I had in tanks, I either pushed gravel up aganist the backs (for the ones who I didn't think would try to go through b/c they are so large), or took a tiny piece of sponge and shoved it in there. That's what I have done for most of them.

Caroline - Here is a pic of the gal, it's old, but she looks the same. :p You actually can't breed double tails to double tails, because they have shorter than average bodies, and the fry would have deformities and possibly die. In the future, I may breed him to one of my smaller females though, and hope for some DTs... :)

My walmart sucks :( they don't have fish. So i have to goto the expencive local shop. The guy there seems nice and all but he stopped giving me deals on fish. He said he would sell me neon tetras for 1$ a piece if i bought 6 or more instead of the 1.60 a piece. But the hobo is close to going out of buisness and he says he hopes his store burns down so he can collect the insurance on the store and the animals. :( he's got rabits and hamsters and gerbles (eww) and about 2 dozen lizards and snames and a cute bull dog named copper. He also has an huge wall of fish. Personaly i hate that guy. But back to the main topic.

I love your betta. I'm looking for a mate for my bill and ill have to look for a special fancy someone for him :)

i love your double tail male ;)
nice to know there are a few of us out there with em. i think they are pretty fascinating, their body shape is so different from other bettas, very unique. unfortunately, they suffer more from deformaties and bent spines so getting nice ones like yours is a treat ;)

Oh my! :*) Rosso is AMAZING!!!

I think I am in looooove!!!

P.S. That female is pretty darn cute too.

Thank you bkk! Means a lot to get a compliment from you on one of my bettas. I didn't really know what a wonderful find I had when I first got him. I knew I had a double tail, but since then have discovered what a great one he is! I just thought he was small when I got him. :p I do enjoy comparing him to my other bettas, it interests me how incredibly different his shape and size is.

Thanks again everyone. Rosso is getting a big head!
