Hi all. Picked up new tank on Saturday fluval profile 900 six months old (eBay) £100 bargain. problem is it came with eight cichilds. two silver sharks. one plec? two tiger barbs.two tiger loaches. one red tail black shark. & one other algae eater don't know what it is.

They are not fish I really want so need to find good homes for some of them (cichilds)

Noticed today one of the yellow cichilds has what looks like a bruise on one side, orange in colour, scales raised, need to know best treatment as no hospital tank available.

Thought of trying melafix on whole tank, advice needed please.

Ian

This tank stocking sounds pretty shocking, you need to get photos for definite IDs so you know what can be safely left in theis tank and what needs to go ASAP...

Is this tank ~180l?

Besides the unknown cichlids, you will almost certainly need to rehome...
The Silver/Bala Sharks that reach ~40cm
The pleco, which if a "Common" or "Sailfin" should reach ~45-60cm
The RTBS that should reach ~15cm and will be quite territorial, needing at least a 4-foot tank

How is this "yellow cichlid" behaving compared to the other cichlids?
Did this bargain come with the filter and media that was supporting them before you purchased this setup?

Hi this tank came with fluval 305 filter e300heater bogwood plants the lot fish too didant really want the fish .
drove up to Bristol to pick up not sure if damaged in transit looks like a electric yellow cichlid swimming fine and eating OK.
fantastic looking fish but not for me at moment.
wife wants tetras etc as I have a fluval 240 with ebjds in so need to sort out.

Try aquarist classifieds and gumtree mate. The yellow labs will be easy to rehome, malawi's seem to be the in fish at the minute. The rest may have to go to your lfs though. Amazing what some people keep together.

Tank sounds like a right bargain! Congratulations.
