Hello,

I would be most greatful if anyone could help me.

I added 3ml Ammonia (3ppm) to my tank yesterday at around 4pm and now its back to 0ppm.

Please find below a picture of my test results for today. I bought my tank exactly 3 weeks and started the cycle then.

It seems I have enough bacteria to break the Ammonia but not enough to break down the Nitrite? Is that correct please?

please could you adivse how often should I feed the bacteria and how much should I feed it?

I have approx 120 litre tank.

There's a calculator link at top of page (i've pasted link below) that will tell you how much ammonia to put in. The general rule seems to be to get the reading up-to around 4.0ppm each time after it drops to 0ppm. I'm currently fishless cycling and my filter is still processing my first amount of ammonia but it's getting there (I'm on day 12 in a 180ltr tank). Hope this helps you a little?

Thanks for the reply :)

Should I keep feeding it until my Nitrite falls to zero? Then do a massive water change to get rid of the Nitrate? Then i'm good for fish?

Thanks for your time.

Yup, you're well on course. It may be a good idea to only do half doses of ammonia until you get a 0 on nitrite to give the bacteria a chance to build up. I also found that doing a daily water change helped keep the nitrite levels down within readable range so I could see what was happening. This won't make any difference to your cycle whether you do it or not, but it helped keep me sane.

When you get zero nitrite, go back up to full doses of ammonia. When you are clearing this to double zeroes in 12 hours and this happens consistently for seven days in a row (what we call a qualifying week) then you are ready for fish.
