I Have decided that i will have to send my RTBS to the lfs today as its just harassing the other fish too much, its the 2nd RTBS i've had and i have hid since he was about the size of a small neon tetra - he's now about 4" and called pierre the 2nd as his barbels look like a dainty little moustache

Anyways i have moved the aquarium decor around provided plenty of hidey holes for him and added loads of plants for cover but he insists on having these bouts of chasing the skirted guppies and even neons sometimes relentlessly

Its a shame cause sometimes he's a happy community fish and happily just goes about his own buisness but then he has these moods on him

I know its my fault for bringing him to a community tank but i didn't know any better then, but even though its just a fish feel sad cause i've had him since he was a tiny fry - still for the good of the community its got to be done not fair on the others and i dont want to set up another tank just hope he makes it through to a new home he's a lovely healthy specimen

Would like a loach or somet to replace him as a bottom feeder but will have to do my homework for potential size etc as its a 100 litre (21 gallon)

So when are you buying another 4-8 Sterbai? Not only will a 10+ group look amazing, it will give them a more natural experience, in the wild they move around in schools in the hundreds/thousands.

What is your overall stocking now?

My current stocking is 4 pink skirted tetras, 6 neon tetras and the 2 corydoras (i lost 3 guppies which i can only put down the stress/bullying from the rtbs or they were weak anyway as my water is fine plenty of cover but they died within a week of adding to tank.

I do intend to get more corys - i'm aware they prefer to be in shoals i just never like to add more than a couple at once - i've just purchased a fluval 206 external to replace my 2+ internal and although i'm going to put the old filter medium in the new filter i just want to get it swapped and settled before i add more fish i also have inherited a lemon tetra which escaped into the cory bag lol what do u think to the current stocking (21gallon) also where would you put the old filter medium - in a basket or with/inplace of a piece of new sponge?

I agree with adding only a couple at a time. Far better than trying to add 6 or more all at the same time and overloading your tank's bioload. Depending on the model of the filter, you should be able to add the old sponge part as well as the new filter cartridge as most hang on back type filters have enough slots & space to do it that way.

Lemon Tetras are very cool too! They prefer groups of 8 though............and I'm well aware that my sig. shows I only have 5 Lemons, but they do shoal with Von Rios and overloading my tank by upping their numbers wouldn't help anybody. I originally had 6 of them but 1 died and I haven't replaced him/her yet.
