Tank size:10 gallon
pH:N/A )out of strips to test all these
ammonia:N/A
nitrite:
nitrate:
kH:
gH:
tank temp:80

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): all fish ating normal eating normal and swimmng normal issue is one male has a pen tip or bigger lump under him(best way to describe is a penis? but never notice this on other males)

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 50% once every 2 weeks then 25% every 3-5 days

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: none

Tank inhabitants: 7 adult guppies 8 babies(plan to move but need a filter for the other tank) and a baby pleco

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): just bought 2 male and 3 female guppies 5 days ago. this male with the issue is new but just got this a few hours ago

Exposure to chemicals: none

This tank had 17 fish(im new to fish i did not know that was to much fish for the tank) i had 16 adult guppies and a 3inch ghost knife. One female started getting super fuzzy but it would shed off like snake skin all in one peice. then another started changing colors and developed a hump. then more and more got sick and i lost all but 2 fish in 5 days. (i bought meds but they did not work) I did a 90% water change and got all the crap out as well as the ghost knife. Changed the filter (bought an entirely new filter) cleaned out the rocks and plants and got a pleco. the last fish died with a red ring on its belly and red string like thing coming out of it. these fish are showing no signs of those other fish.

im only a newbie myself but you dont say what your water test readings are you also say there are no media or chemicals in your water have you de chlorinated it? and im pretty sure the brand new filter needs to be cycled, why did you change it? also im sure the pleco will grow way too big for that tank size, but then im no expert

Just so you know test strips are highly unreliable... Consider getting an API freshwater master kit as it has everything you will need to test for and, in the long run, will save you money by allowing you to test more times than with the strips.

+1 the pleco will grow too big for your tank, Without knowing your water parameters- ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph we can't help you as much as we could. Also phoenixgsd is correct about the filter, unless you changed all media possible to the new filter, then you have probably started the cycle again.

I have another tank to put the pleco in so im not worried about him growing. But I replaced the filter as when the darn power went out i was not home and when it came back on it burned out the motor as it did not refill itself. I cleaned the filter out before i put it in but i put it in before i even bought the new fish and all my older fish are still alive. The spot on him is now fuzzy. I just bought(when the other fish were dieing) quick cure, stress zyme, and Melafix fish first aid. Would it be ok to add any of these to treat the tank? or would that do more harm then good? I also bought test strips(didnt see the reply about them not being so good until now)and it says alkalinity is 40(low) chlorine is 0 and PH is 6.4(low)
