Fish Symptoms : My male Kribensis has a red lump just behind its fin on its side. It first looked like raised scales but is now red and looks like a pussy spot. It has grown in the last few days but he is eating fine and looks happy.
our beta had popeye over a month but it has gone and she is looking a little better though still hides in the plants.

Your PH seems high, have you tested your tap water PH?

Also signs of ammonia and nitrite in your tests maybe due to uncycled filter.

Havent tested the tap water no will do so tomorrow as need new tests.

the filter has been running for 3 months now :-(

I recommend testing the tap water PH, and for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, that way we can rule out a few things.

Also, were the fish ok before adding this "brown coloured rock"? If they were, i would recommend removing it and doing a large water change for now.

Also when cleaning your filter do you clean the sponges etc in fishtank water?

Yes ive been cleaning it in tank water when doing water change. is that right?
I will test the water tomorrow and post it, i did do a 30% water change tonight should i do it again tomorrow and remove the rock?

Also only illness we had before 'the rock' was popeye on my beta female but as i said she is still going just a bit shy now. and we lost a danio to dropsey a few months ago

The rock was given to us by the store we got the pakisatni loach and cory panda from....

Any ideas on the red lump thing? Should i seperate him?

I'm not sure if im just looking for things as im concerned but my crown tail betta has a black fuzz on his head and round his mouth i think?
Thanks for helping sorry to have so many questions!

Ammonia and nitrite levels that high require an immediate 90% water change.

Edit * I miss read your readings as 2ppm and 1ppm. Are they 0.2 and 0.1 ?

The red lump thing could be a number of things, maybe even a heater burn, the black fuzz sounds like a fungal infection, hopefully someone with more knowledge on those can speak up soon, if you have a quarantine tank i would separate them from the main tank for now.

You could of just had an ammonia spike when adding the new fish, causing the mystery death and then these problems.

Tests from your tap water should help us narrow this down, if you have no ammonia or nitrite in your tap water, then something must have gone pear shaped with your bacteria, or the the PH from your tap is lets say 7, and your tank water is 9, there is something causing massive swings in your tank which will lead to deaths im sure.

The lump has now 'popped' and he has a hole and its all white!! Do I remove him or will he be ok?

Yes I would separate him from the other mates if you can set up a proper tank for him. Did you test your tap water yet? Are you continuing with the daily 50% water changes?

Thank you to everyone who helped.

My fish is now healthy again and my water levels are back to normal. I will be keeping a close Eye on them !

Yet another fish that develops what appears to be some kind of staph infection that comes to a head then bursts leaving a gaping hole while the fish acts like nothing is wrong. Then, in less than a week it heals. Does that sound about right for your fish too?
