I created a thread about this some days ago, but I didn't have much luck in discovering what it is. However, the amount of white 'stuff' has rapidly increased over the last few days, so I felt I should maybe have another go before it spreads further.

You can see my betta there in the picture. The 'white stuff' is very difficult to remove, even by scrubbing rather agressively with a toothbrush.

I wondered if it was some kind of fungus. What ways are there for me to get rid of it? I do have some fungal + fin rot treatment from a while back, so if it is fungus, could this treatment kill it? Sorry if that sounds a little silly, just an idea I had

Many Thanks :good:

Hi
is that a fake plant or real? It doesn't look aquatic, so may well rot over time anyway.
Nice Betta,love the colour.

That plant is fake, it's silk. There are live plants in there though - hygro, anubias and marimo balls.

Thanks for the compliment on my betta. He is quite a nice colour, though his fins suffered badly when he used to be kept in a BiOrb due the ceramic media which shredded them. That was months back now, so I'm really hoping they re-grow a little :good:

For some reason I seem to get similar white "growth" on my plants and driftwood, even the stones after a water change. Though it disappears within 24 h! The water also appears milky so I'm assuming my problem is a bacteria bloom. I'm also battling a ph issue, but that's a different story.....

Your problem looks more like a fungus! If you have a good regime keeping your water (weekly water changes, gravel vacs, cleaning the filters every so often, not overfeeding...) maybe you could take something infected out of the tank and treat it separatelhy to see if it has an effect. That way you would not subject your whole tank to treatment that may not work!? I think that's what I would do, but I'm no expert, lol!

Thanks for the advice, rummynose. I don't think I noticed it since I added the hygro nearly 2 weeks ago, so it could be that...
